Hi Lisa,

Bind does allow for logging of successful transfers and other
operations, e.g.:

27-Apr-2007 09:20:41.861 zone andyshellam.eu/IN: loaded serial 2007041451

01-May-2007 20:33:32.815 zone nagioslookingglass.co.uk/IN: Transfer started.
01-May-2007 20:33:32.904 zone nagioslookingglass.co.uk/IN: transferred
serial 2007041117

08-May-2007 08:53:09.131 transfer of 'andyshellam.eu/IN' from
89.200.137.203#53: connected using 82.165.38.62#43255
08-May-2007 08:53:09.213 transfer of 'andyshellam.eu/IN' from
89.200.137.203#53: end of transfer

Look up the logging {} section in the administrator manual.

Once you've changed the main Bind configuration file, it's always a good
idea to test it using "named-checkconf /path/to/named.conf".
This will output any errors without affecting the running server,
however I do agree it'd be useful to have a "config file OK"
confirmation, like "named-checkzone" does.

Andy.
