What you described is exactly what I did/experienced (minus doing the 
changes with a script, I did them by hand). I'm just too old to 
bother to describe all the details anymore (and too old to write 
nifty scripts).

As far as "am I going to use DNSSEC?"  Well, let's just say I've been 
known to dabble in it now and then.
