build failed on OSX 10.4.10 (ppc)

I had tried that first, but it gives me this big ASCII warning sign  
at the end of configure telling me my openssl crypto library may be  
vulnerable and recommending I upgrade to version 0.9.8d/0.9.7l or  
greater. So I grabbed the source from OpenSSL's site (0.9.8e) and  
built that, now I'm trying to use it.

Oops. Why? What did I do to my other machine, I used 'make install'  
on it (it also had the same OpenSSL issue, so I used the exact same ./ 
configure line on it). Testing indicated it's working like a charm  
there.

Is that what './configure && make' is doing, or am I supposed to hunt  
down the pieces and move them in manually? I don't have a ton of  
experience with make, but I do have a sneaky feeling I'm about to  
learn something useful.
