Too bad Mark couldn't just tell him that.

The level of abuse seen to questioners on this list is truly amazing.
One would think people annoyed by questions wouldn't bother to subscribe
to a list designed for them.  No one that uses BIND or UNIX/LINUX was
born knowing about it so its annoying when they pretend they do.

Taking Mark's comment (below) into account, the following command should
be:

root at oak#  grep -i foo.com named.conf

to make the search case InSeNsItIvE...
