named.conf file in xml

First you would have to change Bind. Bind does read it. Then you
would have to look for all other programmes that read or write
named.conf.

I think it is in the registries mostly. Private programmes mostly.

Then there are a couple of programmes reading named.conf and the
zone files.

Why not forget Bind ond look for - or write - a replacement?

Why xml? SQL makes a lot more sense if you deal with enough data
to justify a change. There are quite some replacements for Bind
that directly work on SQL. I think programmes that process xml
can work with SQL too.
