What does your /var/log/syslog say after launching named?

/jack

Emne: Problem on installation BIND-9.3.2 in SUSE 10

I downloaded the source code tar.gz file for BIND 9.3.2 and then ./configure, make, make install, create zone files, and named.conf file. and then run /usr/local/sbin/named as root. When i PS, named is running, but i failed to find any log file, and the name lookup from other machines failed.

Where should i find the log file so i can see what's wrong, i used named-checkconfi and named-checkzone to check the config file and zone files, they look OK. In my named.conf file, i defined channel myfile {file "/var/log/exptrack.log" ..}. But after i ran BIND, nothing is inside this file.

I have searched mailing list archive and tried to google any solution but failed to find one. Would someone knows what i can do. Thanks in advance.
