how do I force a zone transfer

I am running BIND 9.2 on Suse 9.3.  I added the location of the
slave file in named.conf using the following syntax: 


zone "loganutah.org" in {
        masters { 10.1.15.53; };
        type slave;
        file "slave/loganutah.org";
};
I change the serial number in slave/loganutah.org file to 1.  I read that
rcnd reload will force a zone transfer. After typing rcnd reload I checked
the loganutah.org file and see no change. Am I following the proper
procedure?
