	NIS definitely does caching, and completely violates the DNS 
rules for TTL, etc....  This is one of the reasons why I consider it 
to be one of the most vile creations to have ever been inflicted on 
this planet, and I do the following on any Solaris machine I 
administer:

		# find / -name \*nis\* -print | xargs rm -rf
