resolver library in bind9

Hi
in bind 9.2.4 , there is a file res_query.c (lib/bind/nmaed/res_query.c)
where all resolver library functions are implemented(res_send, res_query,
etc.) ....but
the execution control never reaches ....I put printfs there...but these
never gets
printed......I donno know then whats the reason of keeping those functions
there....
or is there something to be enabled, ........so that those resolver
functions
gets executed.....

please let me know...why its like this......?
