Doubt regarding default no. of retries....

Hi
I'm using the bind 9.2.4 package.....
in the man page of dig the deafult retry no. is given as 3....
but in the coding I find it 2 (unless we specify using +tries=<any-value>)

If i print it there in bin/dig/dighost.c line no. 2578, its 2 
always(without +tries)...

Please comment.....
