Sorry for the trouble but I successfully ran Bind on XP coz I had a
bad named.conf. But I was also mystified that Bind was not present
in the services when I had that misconfigured named.conf. My
solution was uninstall Bind, then correct my named.conf and install
Bind again. And all went right. thanks
