wildcard SPF entry w/o wildcard MX entries

You would also have to use a wildcard for the MX records.  Wildcards are 
not type-specific, they only get used when there are no explicit records 
for the name.  Since you have explicit MX records for the subdomains, 
wildcards will never be used for those names.

So you will either need explicit SPF records for all of them, or replace 
all the MX records with a wildcard.
