Top level domains

Hi all, new to bind yadda yadda...

I have set up a local network and have set up my internal domain
using the HowTo docs. No problems and all works fine.

What I would like to do is set up several descriptive tld's.
eg
.kev for internal network
  linux.kev
  www.kev
  office.kev
  etc...
.doc for workstations
  pdf.doc
  image.doc
  incoming.doc
  etc....
.music for the music stations
  lyrics.music
  studio.music
  mixer.music
  etc...

Do I need to set up a small internal root server for this?
What docs should I be reading with this sort of set up?
