Think I found the problem. Set permissions on the /var/named directory
to 777 to get it to work. Is there a best practices document that
someone can point me to for security setup, etc ?
Thanks,
Ron

Subject: Error transferring zone
I am setting up a new DNS server at our college. I am new to Linux so
please bear with me as I learn. I get named to start but see the
following error in messages when trying to transfer a zone from the
primary dns server -
Oct 18 13:36:36 pippin named: named startup succeeded
Oct 18 13:36:37 pippin named[16237]: dumping master file:
tmp-XXXXyGPpIo: open: permission denied
Oct 18 13:36:37 pippin named[16237]: transfer of
'georgetowncollege.edu/IN' from 68.208.176.2#53: failed while receiving
responses: permission denied
Oct 18 13:36:37 pippin named[16237]: transfer of
'georgetowncollege.edu/IN' from 68.208.176.2#53: end of transfer
The server I am setting up will be a secondary DNS. I am going through
the Oreilly book I have and doing some googling but so far no luck.
