Thanks for the explanation. So the format should be yyyymmddxx not 
yyyymmddxxxx? I tried yyyymmddxxxx, and got

** server can't find mail.hq.arkonnetworks.com: SERVFAIL

I'll read up on Verisign method, it looks like a plausible method.
