Make sure you have specified the path of the following files in you
named.conf file:

In Solaris 7/8/9

/var/run/( named.pid, named.status and named.db )

also make sure the user you are starting named as has write access in
/var/run

In Solaris 2.6 the path can be /var/tmp/

Good luck.

Subject: TCP receive error

I found these TCP receive errors in my /var/adm/message log file. The
named daemon does not crash and the errors have only happen twice this
week, for about 6 seconds. Does anyone know what is causing these error
messages?

Jul 20 11:11:03 host named[6009]: [ID 873579 daemon.error] Jul 20
11:11:03.792
dispatch 392950: shutting down due to TCP receive error: connection
reset
Jul 20 11:11:04 host named[6009]: [ID 873579 daemon.error] Jul 20

reset
Jul 20 11:11:04 host named[6009]: [ID 873579 daemon.error] Jul 20

Thanks,
