I would suggest you buy a book on BIND if you are running BIND or Windows
Networking Infrastructure if its a microsoft DNS, and learn as well about
the operating system that the DNS runs on
Having a book by your side really helps a lot, espacially if you are a
newbie like me!!

It depends on your operating system. On Debian, 'dpkg -s bind', on
FreeBSD 'pkg_info | grep bind'.
