Problems with MX records?

Hi Folks,

I am running BIND 8.3.4, and I am having a problem.

First, here is a little background info:

nslookup bioserver.bo.utoledo.edu
Server: utnetw.utoledo.edu
Address: 131.183.1.1

Name: bioserver.bo.utoledo.edu
Address: 131.183.60.23

nslookup bioserver2.bo.utoledo.edu
Server: utnetw.utoledo.edu
Address: 131.183.1.1

Name: bioserver2.bo.utoledo.edu
Address: 131.183.60.72

These lookup fine and dandy.
Their primary DNS server is 131.183.77.224

I have another DNS server creating C-Names like thus:

nslookup www.biosciences.utoledo.edu
Server: utnetw.utoledo.edu
Address: 131.183.1.1

Name: bioserver.bo.utoledo.edu
Address: 131.183.60.23
Aliases: www.biosciences.utoledo.edu

nslookup biosciences.utoledo.edu
Server: utnetw.utoledo.edu
Address: 131.183.1.1

Name: bioserver.bo.utoledo.edu
Address: 131.183.60.23
Aliases: biosciences.utoledo.edu

This seems to work.

But when I try to create MX records thusly:

www.biosciences.utoledo.edu. IN MX 10 bioserver.bo.utoledo.edu.

biosciences.utoledo.edu. IN MX 10 bioserver.bo.utoledo.edu.

www.biosciences2.utoledo.edu. IN MX 10
bioserver2.bo.utoledo.edu.
biosciences2.utoledo.edu. IN MX 10
bioserver2.bo.utoledo.edu.

This fails, and BIND entirely rejects the whole zone.

What am I doing wrong? This seems like it should work.

I was asked to add these MX records, as e-mail from yahoo and MSN were
failing. When asking yahoo/MSN, they said this is how things should be
as we did not create MX records for these two servers. Yet, they are
the
only places in the whole world where this was so.

Anyway, what am I doing wrong? It should be simple to just create a
couple MX records and be done with it. Yet, it does not work.

Help!

Thank you very kindly for any help you can give me.

Sincerely
