Cannot run DNS Server behind linksys router?

I have a problem with my MS DNS server. I can resolve names from my
LAN, but when I try to contact my dns server from a remote location, I
cannot connect to it.
I am forwarding port 53 tcp/udp, and i am unable to ping my routers
WAN ip from work or anywhere else. I also cannot telnet to my routers
IP on port 53 from anywhere besides my lan.
I have a befw11s4 router/switch.
I even tried to add my server as a dmz host, but still no luck.
