It could, in theory, be done with procmail filtering mail on each server 
and transmitting it to the other as it comes in. In practice, though, 
it's more than a little bit unusual. What most such sites do is to have 
a primary SMTP server, a secondary SMTP record, have the secondary relay 
to the primary SMTP server, and back up *that*.
