Bind 4.9.11 under Solaris 8

While I can appreciate your desire to make one change at a time, I can
assure you personally that BIND 9.2.* works on Solaris 8.  It might be
best to take the plunge.  There are tools to automatically convert your
files to BIND 9-compliant files, provided that what you were doing with
BIND 4 isn't too broken [ours was ;-)].

Failing that, I can also assure you that earlier versions of BIND 9
compiled on Solaris 2.6 and earlier, and I don't think that this has
changed.  You may want to first change to BIND 9, and then upgrade your
machines.
