Point the A record for www at the webserver is the general method,
multiple A records are fine.

Of course you need to ensure the webserver is ready to accept requests
with "www.mysite.com" in, which sounds unlikely from what you've said so
far.

I suspect also the webserver in question might be multiple physical
webservers behind a veneer of simplicity.

An alternative might be to host a redirect web page somewhere, but these
days you can get cheap webhosting, it seems a lot of trouble to go to to
redirect somewhere else.
