Tough to tell from the details you have provided.

To start, let's troubleshoot name resolution before we bother with the
virtual hosts. Are you able to resolve 'domain.com' for an IP address?
Or only 'www.domain.com'?

Try 'dig @nameserver domain.com' to see if it resolves.
