Error when I use type forward with forward first...

It has a direct access to internet, but as you see = file command is
commented out...You mean if I set forward first and = there is a forwarder
configured under the . zone, there is a chance = that the query could end up
in the root-servers... 

How exactly forward first works...As far as I know, = it first check the its
own cache, and if cannot find there it sends it = to the forwarder not to
theroot-servers... 


Can you send me a configuration for forward first = implementatio? Thanks

Does the nameserver have direct, i.e. not through a = forwarder, access to
Internet nameservers? If it has no direct access, = then you 

shouldn't be configuring it as "forward = first", which expects to be able
toquery the Internet directly if = the forwarded query 

times out.
