	Well you could read RFC 1033, RFC 1034 and RFC 1035.  The are the
	current revisions of the base DNS specification.

	RFC 1033 DOMAIN ADMINISTRATORS OPERATIONS GUIDE
	RFC 1034 DOMAIN NAMES - CONCEPTS AND FACILITIES
	RFC 1035 DOMAIN NAMES - IMPLEMENTATION AND SPECIFICATION

	http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1034.txt
	http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1035.txt

	There are around 70 other RFCs that also update (correct / extend)
	these.  BIND ships with most of these (doc/rfc).

	You could also look at introductory chapters in "DNS and BIND".
