Should I be using recursion?

Hi 

	named 8.3.4-REL 

I run a primary for a domain. If I use dig someaddress.com I can 
frequently get "Non-existent host/domain" replies. If I use dig +norec 
someaddress I get a response. 

As I primary should I turn off recursion? It seems I would get results 
if I do.
