sub domains

If I have a primary domain called domain1 and a sub domain called sub1 =
(sub1.domain1.com) . Would I build my domain1 file to include the =
subdomain. For example:

host.sub1	A	192.168.100.1

or do I have to make these modifications on the named.conf as a =
sub-domain?
