I checked the doc directory but there's nothing there. Anyway, after =
trying
to tweak my server, it crashed; so I had to chance to reinstall BIND =
again.
I did these steps:
1. rename all BIND files I could find and added an *.bak extension:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/named
/usr/sbin/named*
/etc/named.conf
2. installed BIND
./configure
make
make install
3. i tested it from the /root directory: named -v, it displayed the =
correct
version (unlike before that I have to use the real path:
/usr/local/sbin/named -v)
4. edited 3 lines in the /etc/rc.d/init.d to reflect the new path of =
the
BIND
5. renamed the *.bak files for the named script and the named.conf
6. started the daemon by running /etc/rc.d/init.d/named
On step 6, I encountered errors: "none:0:open:/etc/named.conf:file not
found". But I checked by named.conf, and it is there (step 5).=20
What did I miss?
Thanks.

Not much. Examine the Makefile and see where the sofware get's =
installed
( usually /usr/local/sbin) , adjust your startup scripts accordingly.
Have you browsed the doc/ directory ?
