Refer single machine in local DNS server to outside name resoluton?

Hi

I have actually tried. I have put the following:

www.mydomain.com IN CNAME server1.otherdomain.com.au
www.mydomain.com IN A 203.49.1.1

I have tried this both in the p-mydomain masterfile and the
s-otherdomain slave file for lookups.

When I do a nslookup for www.mydomain.com, all I get back is:

www.mydomain.com canonical name = www.mydomain.com.

But no resolution to an IP address or to server1.otherdomain.com.au

In my resolv.conf file I have

domain mydomain.com
search mydomain.com otherdomain.com.au
nameserver 127.0.0.1

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hugo
