named not answering queries

Start by posting your named.conf and describing at least some rudimentary
details of your network
connectivity, e.g. is this a box with direct connectivity to Internet
nameservers? If you don't have direct connectivity to Internet nameservers,
then you must forward in order to resolve Internet names. Then again, maybe
you don't care about resolving Internet names -- maybe you go through proxies
for all Internet interaction -- in which case you'll need access to an
internal root zone on your network.
