Trouble with BIND and ports

That only affects outbound queries from your nameserver, so it won't
directly affect the ability of queries to get to your nameserver.

But, talking about outbound queries, how are you set up for that? Your
nameserver is going to be a bit of a basket case if it can't resolve the
root zone.
