Sender Domain Must Resolve

The other day, I had a problem with my sender domain resolving. I have
recently been cleaning up my DNS, changing hostnames and removing some
subdomains.

On Friday, I started getting the sender domain must resolve error.

I had the Admin of the Parent add an A record for my subdomain and it
fixed the problem. We shouldn't have to do this, should we?

The parent is panasonic.com (ns1.panasonic.com and ns2.panasonic.com)
the following is his setup

research.panasonic.com. IN NS oak.research.panasonic.com
		        IN NS elm.research.panasonic.com
oak.research.panasonic.com. IN A 150.169.1.4
elm.research.panasonic.com. IN A 150.169.1.3

I have the zone research.panasonic.com and have MX records and NS
Records all properly configured. If I set type to MX on the parent
server, it returns the right MX records. If I type in
research.panasonic.com it didn't resolve, but we had him put in an A
record for the domain, so now it does. I shouldn't have had to do this.

I am wondering if it was just some cached stuff that needed to clean
itself out, or if there is a bad configuration somewhere....BTW, I use
Sendmail 8.? from Sun on Solaris 8 (i.e. their latest release).

Thanks,
Paul
