If it has cached a record from floor it will have learnt about
the extra name servers... 

But the obvious thing missing is that the root name servers
(Note the plural - you have more than one right?) should list
all the nameservers for a zone, and hold glue where needed.

Try a copy of "doc" on your Internal DNS.
