Hi everybody,

A very simple question. Could not locate in documentation.

I installed BIND and run it as with command "named -p 1051". i.e. I wanted
to receive queries on UDP port 1051.
Then I sent a query using dig in this way : dig -p 1051 yahoo.com.

After this I get result :

; <<>> DiG 9.2.0a2 <<>> -p 1051 yahoo.com
;; global options: printcmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

What can be the problem ?

Is it too trivial ?

When name server is run as 'named' i.e. on port 53 by default, the dig
query
'dig yahoo.com' works.

Thanks

Vaishali
