Lame servers

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Do you mean, a server that is a slave
for a zone, and has up-to-date, unexpired data, but because of a software bug
does not set the AA bit on its responses? I would call that server
"extrinsically lame" (as opposed to "intrinsically lame", as most lame
servers are), since other servers are not going to give it credibility even
though the data it is providing is good. Extrinsically-lame servers cause
many of the same problems that intrinsically-lame servers do, so the urgency
to fix the problem is roughly equal, and therefore perhaps it is not
particularly fruitful to make such fine distinctions except as an academic
exercise.
