MS dynamic DNS supports static and dynamic entries in same zone?

There have been a number of replies to this posting, and here is
another. I am not sure that the other replies answered the question,
as I interpret it.

I think that the first sentence is incorrect. With the W2k DNS GUI
an administrator can add/change/replace/delete any records in a zone
at any time.

With BIND, if a zone is dynamic, then updates are made using the
nsupdate utility, instead of editting the zone file that resides on
disk. That is why BIND recommends separating static and dynamic
zones. If a dynamic zone is mastered on a W2k DNS box, then the
GUI still works to update the zone. One problem with the GUI is
that the administrator making the updates has no control over the
incrementing of the SOA serial number, so if the administrator is
making a number of changes, the serial number will be updated after
each change (I believe), as the DNS code has no idea which update
is the last update the administrator will be entering. With BIND and
manual zone editting, the administrator can make any number of
changes before incrementing the serial number and reloading the
changed zone.
