Of course you COULD do it this way, but it is a BAD BAD BAD BAD thing
to do. You are effectively telling your server to become authorative
for the com TLD, which first of all will render anything .com
inaccessible. Furthermore, you have to make absolutely certain that
this information doesn't propagate, or many are going to get upset
with you.

What's wrong with writing a short script that copies a template zone
file and then makes the necessary additions to your /etc/named.conf? I
could do that in 10 lines of bash shell script.
