Zone Transfer Problems

That's my exact setup - BIND 8.2.3 on Solaris 8. What do you think the
easiest fix would be? To recompile and edit the Makefiles, or creating
links?

I had the same symptoms. I am running BIND 8.2.3 chrooted on Solaris 8. I
compiled the BIND myself and did not change any of the makefiles. It turned
out
that named-xfer was in the wrong directory (was jail/usr/sbin, changed to
jail/usr/local/sbin) and certain libraries were missing. These libraries
did
not show up with ldd but someone who is cleverer than I am mentioned them on
a
web page.
