Like I said, not that you have strong feelings about it.  <grin> My
impression is that it was designed for an all-Sun NIS environment, just as
a lot of other things Sunnish automatically assume that environment.  It
clearly is out of place in a standards-based DNS environment.  The man
page says "The nscd interface is included in this release on an uncom-
mitted basis only, and is subject to change or removal in a future minor
release."  It's still here.  Shades of Microsoft...
