Is there an nsupdate() function call

Hi,

   I need to dynamically add and delete ns records in a DNS server and I am looking for ways other than executing the system call nsupdate and parsing its output. Is there an nsupdate() function call available in any of the bind libraries which can be called from inside any other program.
