Error building BIND 8.2.4 on Solaris 8

I am trying to build BIND 8.2.4 on Solaris 8 with gcc 2.95.3 and get the
following error:

gcc -g -O2   -o addr addr.o \
        ../../lib/libbind.a -ll -lnsl -lsocket
Undefined                       first referenced
 symbol                             in file
__inet_pton                         addr.o
__inet_ntop                         addr.o
ld: fatal: Symbol referencing errors. No output written to addr

make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `addr'

Does anyone know what I need to fix?
