reverse look-up oddity

That would be 1) because the problem of leaving a trailing
dot off of the end of a domain name affects both forward-
and reverse-mapping zones and 2) because appending 
".rev" is apparently your site's convention for naming zone 
data files for reverse-mapping zones, not a standard term.
