stub zones and NS records

Let me make myself clearer (if possible):

Our primary domain is ChampUSA.COM.
We own a mutitude of domains:
Champion-Nutrition.COM
Tanzengeist.COM
WahLeeWHIRL.COM
etc.

The NS and MX records are the same for all domains.

We're running stubs within the internal ns's. Because there's
no "subdomain" will stubs work since it's only loading the
NS records for each zone?

With the exception of ChampUSA.COM our db.champusa
loads as expected since the NS records are within the zone:
The PTR zones and the remaining SOA zone files don't behave
in the same manner. I see this output with the db.champion-nutrition
zone file:

; BIND version named 8.2.4-REL Wed Jul 4 22:55:35 PDT 2001
; BIND version
wwinzer at Sun-E3000:/export/home0/wwinzer/mybuild/BUILD/src/bin/named
; zone 'champion-nutrition.com' first transfer
; from 207.21.123.4:53 (local 207.21.123.4) using AXFR at Wed Jul 4 23:17:54
2001
$ORIGIN com.
champion-nutrition 86400 IN SOA Sun-E3000.ChampUSA.com.
wally.winzer.ChampUSA.com. (
                2001070400 10800 3600 604800 86400 )
        86400 IN NS Sun-E3000.ChampUSA.com.
        86400 IN NS sparcserver.ChampUSA.com.
; Ignoring info about Sun-E3000.ChampUSA.com, not in zone champion-nutrition.com.

; $ORIGIN ChampUSA.com.
; Sun-E3000 86400 IN A 207.21.123.4
; Ignoring info about sparcserver.ChampUSA.com, not in zone
champion-nutrition.com.
; sparcserver 86400 IN A 207.21.123.14

Yet our db.champusa zone file loads fine:

; BIND version named 8.2.4-REL Wed Jul 4 22:55:35 PDT 2001
; BIND version
wwinzer at Sun-E3000:/export/home0/wwinzer/mybuild/BUILD/src/bin/named
; zone 'champusa.com' first transfer
; from 207.21.123.4:53 (local 207.21.123.4) using AXFR at Wed Jul 4 23:17:54
2001
$ORIGIN com.
champusa 86400 IN SOA Sun-E3000.champusa.com.
wally.winzer.champusa.com. (
                2001070400 10800 3600 604800 86400 )
        86400 IN NS Sun-E3000.champusa.com.
        86400 IN NS sparcserver.champusa.com.
        86400 IN NS ns1.verio.NET.
        86400 IN NS b.ns.verio.NET.
        86400 IN NS t.ns.verio.NET.
$ORIGIN champusa.com.
Sun-E3000 86400 IN A 207.21.123.4
sparcserver 86400 IN A 207.21.123.14

In my case, are stubs applicable, or do we need to change
the nameserver function entirely?

What we're thinking is to not have no zones at all, just the
hints zone.

Your input is greatly appreciated.
