Bind 9.0.1 slave "refresh_callback" messages

Ok, I must be missing something and it's probably something simple.  I've
compiled bind 9.0.1 and have it running, working beautifully for the zones
it is master for.  However, for every zone that it is running slave for, I'm
getting the following error message:

Jan 12 14:42:23 sanford named[362]: refresh_callback: zone
slackershaven.org/IN: failure for 192.168.2.2#53: timed out

The 9.0.1 server is on a different subnet from the 8.2.1 server, and there
is no firewall between them.  I can communicate between the servers just
fine, and running `dig @192.168.2.2 slackershaven.org any` produces a log
message on the 8.2.1 box showing that an AXFR was successful to the 9.0.1
system.  I've tried the ixfr statements in both named.confs and that didn't
seem to help.

Any ideas?  I did a search but couldn't find any relevant messages in the
archive.
