MS Windows 2000 does not use either file at all. It uses MS DNS. You
can load BIND onto it and use it. BIND is much better for many
purposes, except for using MS proprietary variations on protocols.
BIND 8 and BIND 9 use the "named.conf" type of file - which can be
named whatever you want, but defaults to "named.conf". BIND 4 used
"named.boot", but you should NOT want to load that on anything.
