Hello,

I believe the following errors are caused by Windows 2000 client that are
trying to register there host names in DNS, most of these messages are
generated from the Windows 2000 client using dial-in or VPN, does that have
anything to do with it?. Is there any way to suppress these messages? They
generate a lot of messages in our /var/adm/messages.

I have looked in the
<http://www.acmebw.com/askmrdns/bind-messages.htm#idx_e>
http://www.acmebw.com/askmrdns/bind-messages.htm#idx_e document to see what
they say. The error states severity as ERROR.
What is the impact on our DNS servers receiving these errors?

Can someone help me better understand what is really trying to occur here?

A dynamic update from the IP address 192.68.20.116 failed because it
included a prerequisite that a certain record type not exist for a domain
name. That record type did exist, so the name server didn't process the
update.

1. What it the prerequisite this explanation talks about?
2. What is the record type?
3. NXRRSET = Non Existing Resource Record Set? Is this what NXRRSET is
telling me? And what RR Set does it refer to?
