sorry - yes that's my understanding.  the registrar of the domain that
the host is in sends the glue records; registrars of the actual domains
just give the root servers the hostname of the nameserver and they get
the IP address from the actual record for the host.

that's what i've been told anyway, and i think that if this were not the
case we'd have a number of customers with big problems.

i think that the ip address mentioned when you do a whois lookup is for
convenience; some registrars (like corenic) don't include them at all.

i haven't been able to find a really great example, but here's an ok
one.  note how register.com has the same ip address for BOTH nameservers
in their whois database, but the root servers still have the right info.
