Unless You have a very good reason or know unix USE Windows DNS. Win 2000 is preferable.

NO ONE knows windows here.

Hi,

Can I do this with an internal DNS?

At the moment I have host files which map ip addresses to names (ie the mail
server is 172.28.0.6 MAILSERVER)

This as you can imagine is a nightmare to manage. I have been told that I
can setup a dns server and just change the network properties to have a
primary dns and any management changes I can do on the server and all
clients will see them without me going to each machine and making an
adjustment.

I have also been informed that I should use BIND not the Windows NT DNS
Services, but all I can find at the moment is information and sample
configuration files for UNIX.

Can anybody point me in the right direction where I can obtain this
information?

TIA.
