BSDI 4.0.1 and BIND 9.1.1

I'm running into a resource problem.

now a previous thread said BSDI 4.0.1 doesn't handle pthreads correctly.
i've tried the --disable-threads configure structure, only to find that a
make failed miserably. however, upon regular ./configure, it works fine.

is there a solution here?
