BIND or ? "Alert!: Unable to access document."

I am setting-up a new server.  BIND seems to be up and running 
with no problems being reported in the "messages" file.  If I attempt 
to lynx to a local domain, that works fine.  But if I attempt to lynx 
to a domain outside my network it doesn't work. Following is an 
example:

Alert!: Unable to access document.
Looking up www.netscape.com first.
Looking up www.netscape.com.com, guessing...
Looking up www.netscape.com.edu, guessing...
Looking up www.netscape.com.net, guessing...
Looking up www.netscape.com.org, guessing...
Can't Access `file://localhost/root/www.netscape.com'
Alert!: Unable to access document.
lynx: Can't access startfile 

Is this a  BIND problem or... ?   If anyone can advise how to resolve 
this problem I would be grateful.
